EQCoach turns the content you bring — videos, podcasts, books and documents — into personalised emotional-intelligence coaching. That only works if we process what you upload. This policy explains exactly what we collect, who else sees it, and what control you have.
This summary is here for readability. It is not a substitute for the full policy below, which is what actually governs how we handle your data.
EQCoach (“EQCoach”, “we”, “us”) operates the EQCoach web application. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, which means we decide why and how it is processed.

We collect four kinds of data. Only the first is something you give us deliberately as “personal details” — the rest is generated as you use the product.
Account data
If you sign in with Google
When you choose “Continue with Google”, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We use them only to create your account, sign you in and show your name in the app. We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, contacts or any other Google data, and we do not sell this information, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models. You can revoke EQCoach’s access at any time from your Google Account’s security settings.
EQCoach’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Content you provide
Please don't upload sensitive records
Usage and billing data
Technical data
We do not use your conversations or uploaded content to train our own AI models, and we do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
This is the part most people care about, so we want to be precise about it.
When you send a message, we assemble a context package and send it to Anthropic’s Claude model. That package can contain your message, a short window of recent conversation history, excerpts from content you have added to that conversation, and passages from our own curated coaching library. Claude returns a reply, which we store in your conversation.
When you add a document, video, podcast or YouTube link, it is transcribed or parsed, split into chunks, and converted into embeddings by OpenAI so that later questions can retrieve the relevant passages. Audio is transcribed by AssemblyAI. Searches against our curated library run through Pinecone, which receives the embedding of your query rather than your raw text.
Automated output, not professional advice
If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, we rely on the following bases under the GDPR:
Certified Partners can invite people to EQCoach with a personal referral link. If you created your account through such a link, we record that connection so the partner can see the clients they have introduced.
Your referring partner can see:
What partners cannot see
If you would rather not be associated with a referring partner, contact us at support@eqcoach.app and we will remove the referral link between the two accounts.
Free accounts that have been inactive for more than 365 days may be deleted along with their content. We will email you before this happens.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. Residents of California, and of states with comparable laws, also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
What you can do in the app right now
Account deletion is currently a manual request
To make any other request, contact us at support@eqcoach.app. We may need to verify your identity first. If you are in the UK or EEA and are unhappy with our response, you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant regulator where the law requires it.
EQCoach is not intended for children. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at support@eqcoach.app and we will delete it.
Our service providers operate globally, and the providers listed in Who we share data with are primarily based in the United States. This means your personal data may be transferred to, and processed in, countries outside your own — including countries whose data protection laws differ from those in your jurisdiction.
Where we transfer personal data out of the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, incorporated into our agreements with those providers.
We may update this policy as the product changes. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version. If a change materially reduces your rights or expands how we use your data, we will give you notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use EQCoach after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
